Some people wonder how to store a backpack leaf blower at the end of the season. If you are one of those people, then this post is for you! We will go over several different ways to store your leaf blower so that it can be ready for next year’s use.
How to Store a Backpack Leaf Blower
Tip One: Store It Indoors
When you’re not using your leaf blower, it’s best to keep the equipment inside. It will benefit from protection against any weather damage and also against theft. Moreover, if you have pets, this is the safest option for them since they won’t get to it.
Tip Two: Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Extreme heat and cold are harmful to equipment in general, so try avoiding storing your leaf blower near either of these two temperatures. That being said, do not store it indoors if there’s no heating or cooling system available because otherwise, the temperature will fluctuate too much between hot and cold days outside, which can cause problems with its performance.
Tip Three: Remove Gas Before Storage
Before putting away your backpack leaf blower for an extended period of time (about three months), make sure that all gas has been removed from it first. This way, you’ll prevent any oxidation that may come into play when the two mix.
Tip Four: Oil the Air Intake and Outlet Holes
After using your leaf blower, always remember to oil all holes that serve as air intakes or outlets (if possible). The reason for this is because these small passages tend to get clogged up over time with dirt and debris, which will lead to a decrease in their overall performance. To do so, you can use an aerosol spray lubricant such as WD-40 – it doesn’t take much! Any excess should be cleaned off afterward since it’s not necessary.
Tip Five: Store It Without Gasoline/Oil Mix Together
This tip goes hand in hand with Tip Three, but there are times when people forget about one important step, separate gasoline from oil! Separating the two is extremely important because it will prevent any chemical reactions between them, damaging your leaf blower.
Tip Six: Clean It Before Storing
Lastly, always clean out all dirt and debris before putting away your equipment for storage to avoid corrosion or rusting that may take place over time. If you have one available, you can use an air compressor or just wipe off what you can manually with a damp cloth followed by dry rags to finish up. Always remember to unplug electric models first, though, before starting this step!
You now know how to successfully store a backpack leaf blower, so keep these tips in mind next time you need to put yours away for a while! Thanks for reading along today. We hope you enjoyed it!
